Michael Richards' Anger Management
The media was recently thrown in to frenzy after Michael Richards lost his temper at a heckling crowd at a comedy club, The Laugh Factory, in Los Angeles. Richard's fit of anger was aimed at two black men and was filled with racist language and insults. The tirade was caught on camera, the film capturing the comedian's comments as well as the audience walking out in confusion and disgust.
Michael Richards has since appeared on Rev. Jesse Jackson's radio show, "Keep Hope Alive" to talk about the outburst. He claims not to be a racist, but his comments were born from anger instead. He claims "I was in a place of humiliation."
The actor, best known for his role of Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld, has now released to the public that he will be attending counseling sessions to get to the bottom of his anger problem.
Seeing a psychiatric specialist in Los Angeles, Richards hopes to firstly understand the motives behind his racial insults and understand why he had the outburst.
He also hopes to learn how to manage his anger better and learn to control his emotions to prevent any further emotional outbursts.
Michael Richards has also expressed a desire to meet with the two men who were the focus of his racist rant to help him during his therapy. He has been quoted by MSNBC as saying "That's why I'm shattered by it. The way this came through me was like a freight train. After it was over, when I went to look for them, they had gone. And I've tried to meet them, to talk to them, to get some healing."
Michael Richards acknowledged that his statements were harmful and opened a terrible racial wound in our nation, adding that "He pledges never ever to say anything like that again. He's quite remorseful."
