Stage Fright
Stage fright refers to a kind of anxiety where an individual is anxious to render speech in front of audience. It is also called as performance anxiety. It is a very common kind of anxiety that is present among many people worldwide. It is characterized by fear or persistent phobia for performing in front of audience or camera. People with this anxiety will not like to present themselves in public. They have extreme hatred for public appearance.
Stage fright is often reckoned as synonymous to glossophobia or fear of speaking in public. But it is not limited to public speaking alone. It refers to the fear of any kind of performance that involves public presentation. Even sports personalities may have performance anxiety. But it is considered as fear to under perform. Visualization and positive affirmations are the best methods to handle stage frights.
The performer should visualize his performance several times prior to the actual presentation. He should visualize his performance and its rewards only in a positive light. For instance, a speaker can imagine about himself rendering a speech with perfect body language, finer accent and excellent language. He can further visualize about the audience response (applause) for his inspiring speech.
