Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
The Post - Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) refers to a kind of weakening disorder caused by some horrifying event. It is also a kind of anxiety disorder. There will be continuous frightening thoughts and memories about the incident. It is caused by various traumatic incidents like kidnapping, domestic violence, accidents and other natural disasters.
A person may not necessarily experience such an incident by himself or herself. It may be experienced by a person closer to him or her. Even by witnessing a terrifying incident, he or she gets their share of shock. It may result in PTSD. The trauma will be recurring through nightmare, flashbacks etc.
Consequently the person may experience sleeping disorders, numbness, restlessness, aggression, loss of charm, joy etc .This condition may have an adverse effect in a person's work, socialization ability etc PSTD is treated by therapy and medication. It can be prevented by giving immediate counseling after the traumatic incident.
