Panic disorder
Panic disorder refers to an anxiety disorder that is caused by frequent panic attacks. Many people with panic disorder may avoid those situations that caused panic attacks and develop a kind of intense anxiety. But if they avoid those situations that caused panic attacks, it may lead to agoraphobia. Panic disorder also refers to one of the anxiety disorders.
Anxiety disorders are the most common among psychiatric disorders. Several anxiety disorders include agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and social phobia among many others. Repeated and abrupt panic attacks mark the beginning of the panic disorder.
A panic attack refers to an unexpected and frequent intense fear combined with various symptoms. Continuously worrying about another panic attack and their causes and some major change in the behavior due to panic attacks may lead to panic disorder. But the severity of panic disorder varies over a period of time. Many researchers believe panic disorder to be a chronic condition.
